WQ8S here, Extra class from 1990. don't let anyone look down their nose at you . I heard the same thing from a few because I didn't have to send code and the test was multiple choice. I've done OK

FINALY took the exam (I commute a long way to work, that was my barrier towards taking the test) and got my call sign last Thursday. KD8TTQ is my call sign and as of now, all I have is a 70 CM FD-268B cheapie hand held, but hey, it's a start.

Newly minted Technician class. Starting out with an Yaesu FT-60r HT. Mostly just listening in to local chatter so far, trying to find the lay of the airwaves in my area.

I just finished my Tech test about 2 hrs ago (2 March 2013) - and I just started poking at the material for the General exam.  One down; and with a whole lot of luck, two more to go.

Received my Amateur Extra license a couple of weeks ago.  Got my General license last March.  Technically, I was classified as a Technician for about 20 minutes (until my General test was completed and graded).

I just passed my Canadian Basic examination with honours a couple of hours ago, which gives access to all amateur bands. It will probably be a couple of months before I could piece together a decent HF rig but in the meantime I'll keep busy with a Yaesu FT270 familiarizing myself wiith the several repeaters in the vicinity.

I have my Foundation(Tech) licence and I am studying for my intermediate(general) at the moment.

I operate mainly on 2m but I have just go a HF rig but I have yet to set it up.

I am interested in building my own equipment and QRP

I will be looking for advice on fitting a radio and antennas in a vintage Airstream

Passed my Tech. test on Tuesday. Waiting for my call sign. Researching and shopping for my first radio. Morse code requirement scared me off lots of years ago.  This board inspired me to go for it again.

Remember this Sunday if the Flying Pig Rig QSO Party. Frequency is 7.030.7. Try to work all pigs. My serial number for my Pig Rig is 50. If you don't do code it's OK. down load FLDIGI free from the net. Then use the mic in your computer to listen to the radio and print it out for you. All Pig rigs have built in keyers so the computer should have no problem.
Runs from 0000Z Saturday night (7pm EST) to 0000Z Sunday.

I'm sorry! The Pig rig QSO party is on the last Sunday of the month, not the first. OPPS. You might find me there on 7.030 dial frequency. Off set 700 + for transmiter. 73

How time fly's - about 3 hr ago ( 13 April 2013) I jut picked up the General license.  I have finished about 1/3 of the study material for the next exam.  I am not sure how I managed to ace my second test.  And after looking at the Extra license question pool, I think I will have to spend a lot more time to get even close to a perfect score on the last closed book test.

The last test in the series is the VE test that lets you become a volunteer license exam person.
