Homemade Arrow Release
« on: December 25, 2009, 08:44:32 PM »
Hi,

Does anyone know how-to or have plans on how-to make an arrow release for a bow or sling-bow?

Have tried with springed cloths pegs but the pressure gets to high and it releases to early.

Look up "thumb ring" on the internet!  It was the "original" release!  Unfortunately, they also shot off the "opposite" side of the bow when they were in use!

IRKCOD, try this link  www.primitiveways.com  the tutitoral also shows a neat trick to so as not to have to shoot off the opposite side.

Thanks for that Gary4447,

Have just been into the site and downloaded the instructions in pdf. format.  Will certainly give them a go.  There is also a lot of other great information on that site.

We are in the process of shifting from the 'Big Smoke' to a coastal 'little smoke'. It will take us about 6 weeks to get back towards normality so will defer making the release till then.
Plenty of cow-horn and deer antler in this neck of the woods so raw material not an issue.
