cigar boxes for fire starting
« on: February 17, 2012, 01:36:56 AM »
So tonight I decided to try and use a cigar box as a fire starter. I got my Leatherman Kick and shaved up some of the wood from box. I then put some paper inside and light it up. I was a little difficult from the beginning but it eventually got going. I am going to drilling some holes around the sides and put some dry grass, paper and wood chips from a wood chipper in my next box

If you are a regular at a cigar shop you should be a able to get these for free or a bunch for a few bucks a piece.

The only fire that should be started from a Spanish cedar splint is one's cigar.  :-P

Srsly, though, it seems to me that wood with special properties is more valuable as barter than kindling.
