Just for fun, I searched the 204 pages of that document for the words "gun" or "firearm" or "self-defense" or "ammunition".

Those words do not appear in that document.  :(

Nothing against you, it's just what I expected from a government document.  Very sad.

Again with the no zombies...  Thank God for Romero.  Otherwise, everyone would be caught unawares.  (*puts tongue in his cheek*)

LOL... I'd expect no mention of firearms in a Gov produced emergency document.. I'd expect 'Be good sheep, sit there and Bah and we'll protect you and take care of you.'

Well, to that end, I just ordered a Mossberg 590A1 to replace the Remington 870 I sold this past summer.  =-]

The existence of zombies will be denied by the government.  Of course it will be some government secret chemical test that unleashes them, so they aren't going to acknowledge the threat.

I think it is at lest a start.  I am hearing a lot of government officials saying in a pandemic, there will be no government help.  They are telling people to be READY on their own.  We have been a handout nation for decades.  You want more welfare?  Just have another kid.

It will take years to get back to a nation of humble hardworking people who Want to provide for themselves.  Every little step helps.

Zombies are real.

If pressed, they will indeed kill you, and feel justified in doing so.

Check out ReallyReady.org, started by a scientist as a counterpoint to Ready.gov.
About ReallyReady:
In February of 2003 the United States Department of Homeland Security released Ready.gov, an emergency preparedness web resource for Americans, as a cornerstone of its multi-million dollar Ready Campaign.  As of March 2006, Ready.gov has received more than 23 million unique visitors. Unfortunately, Ready.gov contains information that is both inaccurate and incomplete.  The Department of Homeland Security has been alerted both publicly and privately of this problem. However, the modifications that have been made to the site over the past three years, including an update in July 2006, have not adequately addressed the errors.

A thorough analysis of Ready.gov by the Federation of American Scientists reveals that numerous shortcomings remain. We therefore developed ReallyReady.org, a emergency preparedness web resource with comprehensive and correct information.

The Federation of American Scientists hopes to achieve two purposes with ReallyReady.org:

To provide clear and correct information to citizens interested in preparing themselves and their families for an emergency
To persuade the Department of Homeland Security to take a serious look at Ready.gov and their policy on the accuracy of information and to make important changes that will help Americans to prepare for terrorist attacks or natural disasters.

We recommend that the Department of Homeland Security request the assistance of scientific, military, and emergency response experts to make crucial alterations to Ready.gov.  Until FAS deems Ready.gov acceptable, we will ensure that the information on ReallyReady.org will remain updated, useful, and correct.  We hope this site will demonstrate to the Department of Homeland Security that their multi-million dollar site can be useful and we hope they will update their site as quickly as possible.

what?  the government disseminated information has errors?  and they have not fixed those errors?  how can you say that?

:tinfoily: so the question becomes: who benefits from people makes mistakes during an emergency?

on the other hand, it just goes to prove that we should not be allowing the gov't to make decisions for our personal lives (education, healthcare, food, etc) when they cannot even get a website factually correct.
