I have taken on over a dozen 'students' since you Smurf ,and you and Don still make me most proud. Others are close behind you though.

Right, as always "Skills are more important than gear."  That would probably sound really impressive in Latin.

The December QST magazine showed up Friday, with a two page article on the "Force of 50" deployment.  It's all upbeat, no surprises there.  Jeremy Dougherty gets about a quarter page write-up about helping stabilize and evacuate a burn victim, and then contacting her family in Connecticut via HF.  All sounds well, no discord in sight.

A pdf of the article is on the ARRL's site:
http://www.arrl.org/files/file/QST/This%20Month%20in%20QST/December2017/Lindquist.pdf

Again, my guess is that over-tired people in the middle of a disaster area got in each others' faces and said some rash words that are better forgotten.

Artes sunt magis quam instrumenta.

I feel I must state the obvious....despite HUNDREDS of volunteers ...only 22 were selected for service . This means very few Ham's met the simple requirements that were stipulated to insure success and safety of those involved. Training and skill just don't happen overnight, please endeavor to improve YOUR skills as a Ham operator to insure your capability when called to serve as many others can depend on YOU.
