Seems like you need to loosen up.  Low right is usually too tight of a grip.

Your 10/22 is iron sights or optics?  I set mine irons for point of aim.  Anything I cover with the front post is toast.

Me and the Team instructed a two-day course on defensive pistol, carbine, and shotgun for a TSPer.  Very cool.  Spent Saturday night at the cabin with the Team and our student.  Had a spectacular time.

Bought 140v Power Inverter to prepare for Sandy.  (Thanks to Jack Spirko and Steven Harris for the knowledge that a power inverter coupled with two cars that have full tanks equates to ~$30.00 generator)

Assuming you don't need to drive anywhere.  Not a very efficient use of resources.

As for me I added another 2k of .22 to the coffers.

more yard work... about half of my grass is covered and will hopefully be non existent next spring.

also talked with some friends about going in together to get mylar bags in bulk to cut down on costs. i need to get some LTS together and this would be a great cheaper way to do it.

Wrote my mom a letter.  She is in the path of Sandy and was in need of a Prep Talk.  Gave her a basic Survival 101 type leter.  Even in attempting to Keep It Simple it was still four pages long.

This weekend I cleaned the gutters, brought in anything that could become an aerial projectile, topped off the gas and  made sure everything was charged and working.

Now i am trying to work from home while babysitting my 2 year old.

Had a friend in from out of town last week so I didn't do much "prepping" — but got some things accomplished just the same.

Got most of the contents of my missing wallet replaced — the cards I use and need the most anyway. Not as bad of a loss as it could have been so I am thankful for that.

I got some more house cleaning chores done, and overall my house is cleaner than it has been in months. The rooms I fully cleaned and organized months ago never get disgusting to the point it takes more than an hour or two to bring them back. The only "disaster" left in my house to deal with is the basement, which I am going to begin working on tonight since I want to make sure there is nothing on the floor I care about if it gets wet.

Supposedly there is this storm coming our way that I am supposed to be panicking about or something like that… But all I really care about in regards to that is the potential of getting a couple of days off from work.

I would not mind being "cooped up" in my house with lots of food and things to do, even if it means I might get a little water in the basement.

I have been thinking lately that I haven't done much "prepping" or really paying much attention to what needs to be done in the event of a disaster — but now that everyone is panicking, cleaning off the grocery store shelves, etc., I am feeling the effects of the time I HAVE spent being prepared since I could really care less about this storm.

I assume that I could get stuck out on the road somewhere if there is a heavy rain / landslide / floods (has happened here from hurricane remnants before). I have what I need in my vehicle to get home in the event I am stranded and enough gas to get home if I have to take a long detour.

At the house I am pretty much covered except for maybe kerosene in the event I have no electricity to run my furnace or space heaters.

I guess I could make a stop tonight for that one.

Maybe when I spend some time in the basement tonight I will begin by making sure my "go kit" is ready to go since a few camping trips have depleted some items.

As for food, I am sure I can last until the forecast is calling for sun again this weekend!

Filled the tub with water.
Practiced pressure canning raw pack, bone in chicken thighs.

I have noticed that my brand new, still in the package ball jars are occasionally pinging today. (Theyre packed in an open top box with original plastic wrap still on it, lids & bands affixed at the factory)
They're not in a hot place....could it be from pressure change from the storm???? Weird.

Scored some items at a great price.  Multitool $1, breadmaker $12, two windows and 3" foam insulation for making solar cooker and water distiller $free.  Ordered a book on making a root cellar, AK sight adjusting tool, Israeli battle dressing and some other first aid supplies.  Added to compost pile, worked in old garden.  Visited two community raised bed gardens to get ideas.   If anyone has not done this, it would be worth your time.  Priced wood and other items and started planning for the new 2013 garden.  Made new to-do list.  It's overwhelming, but needs to be done to stay on track.  It also shows you what you have accomplished when you don't think you've made any progress.  Cleaned out the flue and started the first fire in my wood stove.  Free heat,  yes!!

I think so. Mine are popping like crazy too.

I filled up 3 x 5 gallon cans with gasoline. Topped off the van. Had the DH top off his car. Filled up the empty propane tank, bought another and filled that up.

Been canning chicken, 7 quarts done, 7 in the canner. Made a turkey stock, it's cooling so I can skim the fat and then can that.

I also am going to try my hand at canning meatloaf tomorrow too.

Starting to make a list of how things went during Sandy and what could have made it better.  Entertainment or small projects are high on the list.

Definitely need to get my tree trimmed or cut down, and replaced with some good fruiting dwarf or semi-dwarf trees.

Need to get a battery backup or hook up the water powered pump that Steven Harris has on his website for my sump pump.

This was actually on Sunday, but I picked up some healthy plants from a local grower for a fair price. This should help get us a head start on the cool season gardening down here.

Was given a 20 year old 921 All American pressure canner by my mother in law. Dirty but in great shape. I took the gauge into the extension office and it was tested and is bad. I ordered a new gauge and am looking forward to canning my first food.

My wife has slowly been coming around to prepping. She wanted a handgun last month and she told me she wants her own BOB. I've got supplies in totes ready to go but now I'm rethinking the whole BOB thing. We live in a nice rural area and our home is our main SHTF location. My BOB/GHB has been geared around me getting home if I'm caught at work. So anyway, working on that and trying to make good decisions.

The wife was out to dinner with some friends last night so I took the opportunity to try-out some of my Mountain entrees with my two young daughters (8yr & 5yr).  I spent the time showing them what the food looks like dry, how to add the water, etc.  I kept the teaching very simple that daddy just keeps this type of food around just in case we ever get hungry and need a quick meal.  BTW, they absolutely loved it and told Mommy in bed this morning what they had for dinner last night.  "It was sooooo good mommy".  You should try it sometime.   ;)
That is awesome... and code words for "Oh crap, what am I going to feed these kids that a) they will eat and b) I won't get in trouble for." I can SO picture this at my house.

Well, we had a huge dead spruce in our front yard come down last night due to the storm.  Both last night and today several of the neighbors who I've only met peripherally came over and offered to help.  We had it under control but it was nice to meet some neighbors and interact with them a bit more.  Building community and all that ;)
